Spotlight - Fiske Public Library
Support Local
Together we can build strong communities and support each other.
As a website designer, it is my job to celebrate my clients; most of which are local small businesses in my community. I step into their shoes to learn what they do, how they do it, and why they do it. To help understand their client base, I observe outside their business from the perspective of a customer to create the most effective custom website for their needs. Providing a professional online experience for both the business owner and the consumer is the goal. The end product (a small business website) is an essential marketing tool to connect businesses to their community, and I am grateful for each and every project.
To better serve our local business owners, I am featuring them in a local business spotlight. Learn more about how they are adjusting to our current situation, and what message they have to share with all of you.
Let's hear from Claudia Schumacher of Fiske Public Library
How is the library adjusting to our current world situation?
The library has been closed to the public since March 14. Up until this week no one was allowed in the building other than to pick up work. Beginning this week one staff member is allowed each day to do work. We are not open to the public at all and really don’t know when we might be able to reopen and under what conditions.
Have your product or service offerings changed to adjust to the needs of your members?
Services have definitely changed. We are pushing our online resources. The Children’s Librarian has been doing Ukulele Singalongs with Miss Liz which she has been posting on Facebook and Sheri has been adding to the website (thanks Sheri!!) There are a lot of databases/websites which are usually subscription based that we do not subscribe to that right now are being offered free so those have been added to the library website homepage in the announcement section. We have also placed at the front door a cart of books for patrons to pick up along with some games and puzzles.
What message would you like to put out there to your current and potential members?
The Library staff miss seeing everyone and hope that you are well. We look forward to being able to get back to whatever the “new” normal is going to be soon.
